If your dryer shuts off mid cycle there could be a few different possible causes depending on the following:
#1 Dryer stops mid cycle and can be started back up immediately after it stops. Usually when this happens it is the result of either a bad/shorted door switch or a bad door latch.
#2 The dryer will start again after it stops, but won’t start immediately after it stops. Most likely your motor is starting to go bad. When a motor is going bad it will get much hotter than normal. When this happens an overload switch, inside of the motor will trip and shut down the dryer. Once the motor cools down the overload switch will reset and you can start the dryer again. Eventually the motor will completely fail and will not restart once it has cooled down. At some point it just won’t start back up no matter how much it has cooled down. Another clue that the motor is going bad, is if you open the door and allow the drum to stop spinning, then shut the door and start the dryer. If it doesn't start right away, your motor is going bad.

#4 If your Dryer is one of Kenmore’s EvenHeat models, which has a 4″ x 6″ circuit board next to the timer and the dryer does not have heat and randomly shuts off , the issue might be the circuit board. If you have these symptoms the video below troubleshoots all possible causes before determining that the circuit board is bad.
